Narrative:
Review from previous lesson.
Show the Bill Nye video on the Earth's seasons. After the video, discuss what was said in the video.
Remind students that revolution is the Earth going around the sun. Ask them if they think it can be summer in one part of the Earth and winter in anoher part of the Earth. Remind them that because of the tilt of the Earth, the sun will shine directly on the pole (so it will be summer) and not the other pole (so it will be winter) and sometimes the sun does not shine on or away from the pole (so it is spring or fall). Draw a picture of a sun and tilted Earth in all four corners of the sun. This would greatly help in demonstrating how the sun reaches different parts of the Earth during different seasons.
The Great Pumpkin Activity:
Interactive Notebooks: Ask students to reflect upon what they learned. To write down the most important terms. Have them include the terms: rotation, revolution, Earth, sun, 24 hours, and 365 days. (Assessment).

The Great Pumpkin Activity:
- At the beginning of the school year in most parts of the country there is a clear slide into autumn. Begin introducing the ideas of scientific study such as observation and writing down what is seen. Then explain about how we have plants that grow in the autumn and that one of the most popular is the pumpkin. Cut the top off a pumpkin and show the kids the seeds inside. In enough small cups for each child to have one, plant several pumpkin seeds. Have the students take turns watering the seeds until they sprout. Explain about growing seasons and how we get food crops. Allow the students to take their sprouts home to plant outside.
